Counterfeits

Counterfeits are becoming a more significant problem in the knife world recently. Learn our stance on fake knives and some tips to help guard against getting scammed.

Counterfeiting Knives Is Theft

We can't state it any more directly or clearly than that.

McNees Knives is aware that our products are being copied and sold as cheap knockoff versions on unauthorized websites. To state the obvious, we take issue with that for several reasons:

  • Copying our designs, right down to using our names and logos, is theft.
  • Putting our name on cheap junk and mirespresenting it as one of our products hurts our brand and disrespects the many years of hard work we have put into building the McNees Knives name.
  • Knockoff knives floating around the marketplace mean that our customers — and potential customers — are at risk of getting scammed and turned off by subpar products that don't meet our high standards.
  • All of the above makes it harder for us to do business, and that makes it harder for our families, our employees, and those we care about.

Don't Support Theft

With cheap knockoff products bearing the McNees Knives name floating around, it's inevitable that some folks are going to get ripped off buying knives on the secondary market. We sincerely regret that, and we hope it doesn't happen to you.

But let's also be clear. There are some people who will intentionally purchase counterfeit knives or EDC products because they want to get something cheap. They want to look like they have the real thing, but they don't. Those people are part of the problem.

Anyone who buys a cheap knife with the McNees Knives name on a knockoff website is getting just that — a cheap knockoff. Junk. You are not supporting our family or our small business or our local employees. You are hurting us just like those who are selling them.

Don't support counterfeit knives. Don't be part of the problem.

Avoid Getting Scammed

To avoid getting scammed with a counterfeit McNees Knives product — or any knife maker's product for that matter — here are some important things to remember:

  • Purchase only from official sources — mcneesknives.com or one of the businesses on our Authorized Dealers page. Those are the only places you can be sure that you are getting a real McNees Knives product.
  • Keep in mind, if you do choose to purchase knives through social media groups, other websites, or on the secondary market, use caution and be aware that you risk getting scammed.
  • Think twice (at least) before purchasing any McNees Knives product that does not have the original box/packaging and COA card.
  • Be aware that McNees Knives does not warranty, service, or make any accommodation for individuals who purchase a fake product, either intentionally or accidentally.
  • If you have questions about whether your knife or EDC gear is real or counterfeit, please contact us for more information.
