McNees Knives is an American-owned small business located in Vernon, Alabama. We take pride in producing quality folding knives, fixed blades, and EDC gear right here at home.

For more than a decade and a half, we have worked hard to develop rock-solid relationships with customers, partners, and suppliers who share our commitment. Today, we continue to grow and look for ways to bring more of the very best knife and EDC products to you, backed by customer service that is unmatched in the industry.

Our Story

I've loved knives for as long as I can remember and have always had a creative itch.

I started in 2008 with a cobbled-together, self-built grinder in a small shop with an extension cord run from the house. I immediately knew I had found my creative outlet and haven't looked back since.

Since that time, the business has grown from a one-man show with me making as many custom knives as I could, to a family operation producing hundreds of semi-custom machined and hand-finished knives every year. My wife Amy now helps with all aspects of the shop, and our adult children both work part time. One or two other family members round out the team, along with a group of great guys who put a lot of care and pride into the work we do.

Today, I am not only proud to produce great knives, but I am proud that my small business is able to help support others across the nation and provide solid jobs for folks right here at home.

At McNees Knives, our knives don’t “arrive.” We don’t get a big box of knives or parts from some other country and start assembling and shipping them to dealers. 

We’re in the shop every day busting our asses to learn how to build the best knives and EDC products we can from the best American-sourced materials we can find.

And when we partner with other businesses for bags, pouches, apparel, and more that will wear the McNees name, we work hard to make sure they share the same commitment.

We are real American workers - getting paid for an honest day's work, helping create jobs and support other small businesses, and spending money in our communities.

Some people will try to tell you that you “have” to have your products made somewhere else. It’s not true. It’s just harder and slower.
